PORTO SEGURO

Porto Seguro is situated in the southern part of the Brazilian state of Bahia. The region possesses amazing beaches and preserved areas of Mata Atlântica, an original tropical jungle founded by the Portuguese discoverers in the year 1500. It was the busiest port of the developing Portuguese colonies from 1500 into the early 1800s and now is a major tourist destination.

In Porto Seguro you will find a lot of attractions and things to do to make your holiday fun, enjoyable and stimulating. Porto Seguro has beautiful beaches with soft white sand and clear green water. There is an extensive coral reef system teeming with life, and Porto Seguro is flanked on the south by wild rain forest, big tracts, which are protected. For the adventure travel a city offers a lot of options like: surf, you will find lovely natural surf camps on beaches that are gentle enough for beginners; mountain biking and adventure biking; schooner boat trips out to the coral reefs and nearby islands or golf course, a highly impressive 18 hole course of modern design with breathtaking views over the sea.
For those wanting to sample some of the genuine Brazilian beverages, a visit to the “Passarela do Alcool” (Passageway) is in order. Here, visitors find the famous "Capeta” drink, can have dinner with live music and buy gifts made in the region. There are also a number of beach-side dance floors, playing Bahia's popular music, known as “Axe”.

The historical site in the Cidade Alta area is a National Heritage Monument put under government trust by a Federal Decree since 1973. It was one of the first towns in Brazil and played an important role during the first years of European colonization. It includes three churches and around 40 buildings (among private residential houses and public institutions), restored by the State Government for the 500th anniversary celebration of Brazilian “discovery”. At night the whole area is bathed by a special lighting system, offering an impressive view.
